EVENT

Unmissable events at the Chirale labs for Arduino Days 2025

A fantastic line-up, from hacking to silk-supply-chain innovation. From the art of bobbin lace to vintage memories made with weaving and ferrite-ring techniques.

On Saturday 22 March 2025, Chirale will turn into a meeting point for makers, the curious, artists and innovators on the occasion of Arduino Day, the worldwide celebration of the open-source platform that revolutionised electronic design.

This year our event will explore a novel theme: the encounter between tradition and technology in the silk supply chain, in collaboration with Tecnoseta and Filum Roma.

In the exhibition area of Spazio Chirale from 10:00 am, we’ll host the machines developed by Tecnoseta.

Founded in 2019, Tecnoseta has set itself the ambitious goal of rebuilding and innovating the silk supply chain, making it entirely Made in Italy. By combining traditional knowledge with Industry 4.0 technology, the company has developed a modular and sustainable system for the production of high-quality Italian silk. Beyond designing innovative machinery, Tecnoseta is committed to the regeneration of rural communities, offering attractive work opportunities for the new generations. Adopting Arduino has allowed them to develop high-performance machinery for every stage of silk production, from reeling to throwing, and they aim to further improve production through predictive maintenance and remote process management, ensuring greater efficiency and sustainability for the future of the sector.

From Tratto Chirale we’ll present the experimental prototypes that will then be exhibited at Filum, the Lace Fair and Lace-makers’ Gathering, taking place from 28 to 30 March at the Hotel Mercure in Spinaceto.

Filum Roma, organised by GEA Associazione Culturale, is an event dedicated to the lace tradition, open to schools, teachers, artisans and producers. During the fair there will be courses and workshops to explore or discover new techniques, while talks and conferences will address topics linked to the world of contemporary weaving.

The presentations from Spazio Chirale at Filum will play on the integration between bobbin-lace technique and electronics, highlighting how traditional lace can dialogue with technology to create interactive surfaces and reactive textures. Ferrite-core memory circuits will also be on display — a tribute to the first computer programs made by weavers with intertwined copper wires, bearing witness to the historic connection between weaving and computation. There will also be practical soldering demonstrations for electronic circuits linked to textile manufacturing.

From Punto Chirale, as tradition has it, themed stickers dedicated to Arduino will be available for all participants.

From 6:30 pm we’ll get into the heart of the day with an interview with Valentina Nardecchia, a science communicator and researcher in cybersecurity, creator of the podcast “Io Hacker”, which tells the stories of the most influential hackers in history and their impact on technology and society.

During the meeting we’ll talk about hacking and artificial intelligence, exploring how these two worlds intertwine in today’s technology landscape.

Right after, Stefano Capezzone will go deeper into the role of microcontrollers, computer vision and artificial intelligence on-machine, for the management and optimisation of production processes. AI is transforming industrial machines, making them capable of adapting to production parameters in real time, improving efficiency and reducing waste. During the talk, concrete examples will be presented of how AI is implemented in modern production lines, creating increasingly sophisticated and interactive automation systems.

Entry to the event is free and open to all. We look forward to seeing you at an edition of Arduino Day that brings together innovation, tradition and experimentation!
